Training at the Hepato-Biliary Centre
Each year the Centre welcomes residents, surgeons and doctors in training, from across France and around the world. Two placement pathways are offered: in hepato-biliary-pancreatic surgery and in hepatology.
Placement · Surgery
Hepato-biliary-pancreatic surgery placement
The Hepato-Biliary Centre welcomes surgeons wishing to undertake a practical placement in liver and biliary surgery.
How it works
Visiting surgeons may attend operations, either as an observer in the operating theatre or from the video-relay room, and are invited to attend the department's case meetings (“staffs”).
They also benefit from the teaching organised at the Centre: university-diploma courses, and teaching delivered to residents and students.
Supervision
Trainees are admitted to the department by decision of Pr Antonio Sa Cunha, head of the Hepato-Biliary Centre; the placement takes place under his responsibility.

Placement · Hepatology
Hepatology placement
The Centre also welcomes doctors and residents wishing to train in hepatology, the management of chronic liver diseases and follow-up after liver transplantation.
How it works
The placement takes place under the responsibility of Pr Audrey Coilly. It combines outpatient clinics, inpatient care, follow-up of transplant patients and participation in multidisciplinary team meetings (MDT), working alongside the Centre's hepatology and liver intensive-care teams.
As with surgery, trainees benefit from the Centre's teaching: university diplomas (including the University Diploma in Liver Intensive Care) and training for residents.
Application
Send your cover letter and up-to-date CV to Pr Audrey Coilly, specifying the desired period. The placement agreement follows the same procedure as for surgery.
