Our group focuses on the graft long-term follow-up including a rigorous clinical evaluation and the realization of liver biopsies performed either for clinical reasons or as part of the systematic post-transplantation  protocol (at 1, 2, 5 10, 15 and 20 years after transplantation).

We have shown that some histological lesions (such as architectural and vascular lesion, atypical form of rejection, …)  could insidiously develop while the liver tests were normal ( Sebagh M et al., J Hepatol 2012). Their impact on the graft outcome is currently under study.

Similarly, long term outcome of patients is a topic research in order to to improve the quality of life and survival of patients above 20 years after transplantation, and to prevent metabolic complications, recurrence of the original disease, cardiovascular complications, cancers...
